Coronoid fossa

Fossa coronoidea

Definition

Anne-Sophie Emeric,

The coronoid fossa is a slight depression at the distal end of the humerus, on the cranial aspect of the condyle. It is visible medial to the radial fossa. It accommodates the medial coronoid process of the ulna when the elbow joint is flexed.

Variation:

The coronoid fossa is visible in cats and ungulates. It does not exist in the dog.
