Definition

Mayla Alcobaça, Andréa Lopes da Costa

The endotympanic part of the temporal bone is a preformed cartilaginous structure that forms the medial part of the tympanic bulla in felines.

Unlike the tympanic part, which ossifies directly from connective tissue, this structure develops from cartilage, forming the medial wall of the tympanic cavity and contributing to its division into two compartments in felines.

Its initial cartilaginous characteristic and anatomical position are essential to the structure of the middle ear in these animals.
