Parietal bone

Definition
The parietal bone is flat and even. It is placed dorsally to the temporal bone, between the occipital and interparetal bones on one side, and the frontal bones on the other.
It is united to its opposite on the median plane of the roof of the cranium (calvaria) whose main part is made of it. It has an external surface, an internal surface and a periphery devisible into several borders.
Usually large and thin, the parietal bone varies much between species.
