Occipital angle
Angulus occipitalis
Definition
The occipital angle (Angulus occipitalis) of the parietal bone contributes to delimitate, with the interparietal bone and the opposite parietal bone, the lambdoid suture, so called because of its shape*. Its endocranial surface participates to the formation of the processus tentoricus leaning against the internal occipital protuberance.
*Lambda is the eleventh letter of the Greek alphabet, it looks like an inverted ‘V’.
