Parietal plane
Planum parietale
Definition
The parietal plane is one of the two parts, the dorsomedial part, of the external surface of the parietal bone. The other is the temporal plane, corresponding to the ventrolateral part.
Variation:
In carnivores, equids, and camelids, the parietal plane is triangular with its apex caudal, and an external sagittal crest is formed by the union of the two temporal lines. This crest extends to the external occipital protuberance, passing between the temporal fossae.
