Planum temporale
Definition
The temporal surface or planum temporale is the ventrolateral part of the external or exocranial surface of the parietal bone* that takes part in the formation of the temporal fossa and gives attachment to the temporal muscle.
*by opposition to the dorsomedial planum parietale.
