Frontal bone
Os frontale
Definition
The frontal bone (Os frontale) is an even, flat and irregular bone that constitutes the basis of the frontal region.
Unlike the human whose two frontal bones merge into a single symmetrical frontal bone very early, in most domestic mammals they remain distinct much longer.
It constitutes the dorsorostral part of the skull and the adjacent part of the face. The nasal part (Pars nasalis) of the frontal bone, dorsocaudally to the nasal bone, and its orbital part (Pars orbitalis) participates to form the face;while its squamous part participates to form the roof of the skull cranially to the parietal bones.
