Head of radius

Caput radii

Definition

Anne-Sophie Emeric,

The head of the radius is located at the proximal extremity of the bone. It is transversely widened to present the articular fovea of radial head .

Variation:

In ungulates, the radial head articulates alone with the humerus to form the elbow joint.

In carnivores, the radius is complemented medially by the ulna.
