Musculus iliocostalis cervicis

Definition

The cervical iliocostal muscle (Iliocostal cervicis) is the cervical part of the iliocostal muscle. For most authors, it is only the most cranial termination of the iliocostal muscle on the transverse process of the seventh cervical vertebra.

 

Origin: transverse process of the cranial thoracic vertebrae

Insertion: Transverse process of the seventh cervical vertebra.

Action: Fixes the loin and ribs

Nerve: Dorsal branches of the thoracic and lumbar nerves
