Interincisive canal

Canalis interincisivus

Definition

Stephan Mahler

The interincisive canal is a median bony canal located in the interincisive suture. Blood vessels pass through it. It is present in horses and carnivores: in dogs, it varies in size and position and may occasionally be absent. In ruminants and pigs, the interincisive canal is replaced by the interincisive fissure.
