Nasal cavity

Cavum nasi

Definition

Mayla Alcobaça, Andréa Lopes da Costa

The nasal cavity is the facial part of the respiratory system. It extends from the bony nasal opening to the cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone, ending at the nasopharyngeal meatus.

It is separated longitudinally by the median nasal septum into two symmetrical portions. Each half contains, rostrally, the nasal conchae and, caudally, the ethmoturbinates.
