Torus palatinus

Definition

Mayla Alcobaça, Andréa Lopes da Costa

The torus palatinus is a protuberance (or slightly prominent, convex projection) located along the midline and palatine suture on the oral surface, caudal to the ventral region of the bony palate.

In humans, the palatine torus is considered a benign bony growth that develops in the mid-palatine region. It may be present from birth or appear later in life.
