Intermediate ridge of tibial cochlea

Crista intermedia cochleae tibialis

Definition

The distal extremity of the tibia carries the cochlea, which consists of an intermediate ridge (central ridge) bordered by the medial and lateral grooves.

The central ridge is orientated in a sagittal direction in most domestic species, but in the horse is orientated craniolaterally.
