Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The mediastinal pleura is the portion of the parietal pleura that covers the structures within the mediastinum, including the heart, major vessels, trachea, and esophagus. It forms a continuous layer with the costal and diaphragmatic pleurae and contributes to the formation of the pleural space, allowing the lungs to glide against the mediastinum during respiration.
