Nasolacrimal duct
Ductus nasolacrimalis
Definition
The nasolacrimal duct connects the lacrimal sac with the nasal cavity. It is particularly long in domestic species. Depending on the species, it opens into the nasal meatus or the nasal vestibule.
The duct passes through the bony lacrimal canal, passing through the lacrimal bone and maxilla, then into the lacrimal groove of the maxilla.
