Organum subcommissurale

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The subcommissural organ is a structure of the diencephalon located ventral to the caudal commissure, composed of thickened, secretory ependyma.

It is part of the circumventricular organs, where the blood-brain barrier is reduced, allowing sensory and secretory functions.
