Subfornical organ

Organum subfornicale

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The subfornical organ is a circumventricular structure located ventrally to the fornix, at the rostral end of the third ventricle of the diencephalon.

It is part of the regions where the blood-brain barrier is reduced, allowing sensory and secretory functions.
