Temporal sinus
Sinus temporalis
Definition
The temporal sinus is a paired dural venous sinus that continues from the transverse sinus and courses ventrolaterally through the temporal bone, lateral to its petrous part. In the dog, it passes toward the retroarticular foramen, where it communicates with the maxillary vein through an emissary vein, contributing to the extracranial drainage of the cranial venous sinuses.
