Dorsal sagittal sinus

Sinus sagittalis dorsalis

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The dorsal sagittal sinus is an unpaired dural venous sinus located along the dorsal midline of the cranial cavity, within the attached border of the falx cerebri. It courses caudally between the cerebral hemispheres, along the longitudinal cerebral fissure, and drains venous blood mainly from the dorsal regions of the cerebral hemispheres and the cranial vault. Caudally, it joins the other dural venous sinuses at the confluence of sinuses and communicates with the transverse sinuses.
