Wrist

Carpus

Definition

In humans, the carpus forms the region termed the wrist. It used to be mistakenly called "knee" in domestic Mammals. Its palmar surface, that closes in the flexion, forms the carpal crease.

In Dogs, we see the carpal torus (Torus carpeus) above this fold; it is a small pad covered by a thin corneous layer.

In Pigs, we find pores of excretion of the carpal gland at the medial side of the carpal region.
