Compartment

Compartimentum

Definition

Muhammad A. Javaid

A compartment is a space containing a group of muscles enclosed by deep fascia and intermuscular septa, sharing a common nerve and blood supply. This organization allows coordinated function of related muscles.

Raised pressure within a compartment (e.g., after injury) may cause compartment syndrome, impairing circulation and nerve function
