Genicular veins
Venae geniculares
Definition
The genicular veins consist of veins that accompany the genicular arteries and drain into the popliteal vein.
These veins form a network known as the genicular venous plexus. The genicular venous plexus is composed of veins that accompany the genicular arteries, which include the superior medial genicular vein, superior lateral genicular vein, middle genicular vein, inferior medial genicular vein, and inferior lateral genicular vein. These veins drain blood from the knee joint and surrounding structures into the popliteal vein.[1]
