Muscular branches of anterior tibial artery
Rami musculares arteriae tibialis anterioris
Definition
The muscular branches of the anterior tibial artery arise as the anterior tibial artery descends in the anterior compartment of the leg, after passing through the interosseous membrane. These branches supply the muscles of the anterior and lateral compartments, most notably the tibialis anterior, extensor hallucis longus, extensor digitorum longus, and, via a significant branch, the proximal and middle thirds of the fibularis (peroneus) longus and brevis muscles.
