Definition
The pubic vein is composed by the venous branches located on the inner surface of the pubis and that drain into the external iliac vein or to the inferior epigastric vein (pubic tributary to the inferior epigastric vein is present in 90% of cases).
For some sources, the pubic vein communicates with the obturator vein in the obturator foramen, and ascends on the back of the pubis to the external iliac vein or to the inferior epigastric vein. Regarding these definition, the pubic vein should be regarded as analogous to the accessory obturator vein, which is not confirmed in all sources...
