Right gastric vein
Vena gastrica dextra
- Synonym: Coronary vein with left gastric vein; Pyloric vein
Definition
The right gastric vein (pyloric vein), drains the stomach and proximal duodenum. It is a tributary of the portal vein.
It originates from the venous tributaries emanating from the lesser curvature of the stomach, runs parallel to the right gastric artery adjacent to the lesser curvature of the stomach through folds of lesser omentum, courses over the pylorus and and end in the portal vein behind the first part of the duodenum.
In ancient nomenclature, the right gastric vein forms the coronary vein with the left gastric vein.
