Scapular notch

Definition
The scapular notch is located at the lateral part of the superior border of the scapula. It is a deep, semicircular indentation that is partially formed by the base of the coracoid process. This notch is transformed into a foramen by the superior transverse scapular ligament.
Key anatomical relationships
Suprascapular artery: Typically passes above the superior transverse scapular ligament.
Suprascapular nerve: Passes below the ligament.
