The body (shaft) of tibia is craniocaudally compressed and presents 3 borders and 3 surfaces:

  • Medial surface
  • Lateral surface
  • Caudal surface
  • Cranial border (formerly known as the tibial crest)
  • Medial border
  • Lateral border (interosseous border, lateral border facing the fibula in carnivores, pigs and horses and attachment of interosseous membrane).
