Crista terminalis

Crista terminalis

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The crista terminalis is a smooth, crescent-shaped muscular ridge located on the internal wall of the right atrium between the entrance of the cranial vena cava and the right auricle opening.

The crista terminalis corresponds externally to the sulcus terminalis and represents the line of fusion between the primitive atrium and the sinus venosus during cardiac development.

Most of the pectinate muscles of right atrium radiate from the crista terminalis.
