Interventricular septum

Septum interventriculare

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The interventricular septum is the robust muscular wall that separates the right and left ventricles of the heart.

It is composed of two main parts: the muscular part, which constitutes the majority of its mass and extends from the cardiac apex to the base, and the membranous part, a small, thin, fibrous portion located superiorly near the atrioventricular junction and adjacent to the aortic and tricuspid valves
