Ethmoidal crest

Crista ethmoidalis

Definition

The internal surface (Facies interna) of the nasal bone, more or less concave from one side to the other, forms the roof of the cavity of the nose and in some species, by its caudal part, to the frontal sinus.

It is crossed by a longitudinal crest, the ethmoidal crest (Crista ethmoidalis), on which the dorsal nasal concha is attached.

An ethmoidal crest is also visible on the palatine bone and sometimes the maxilla (Dogs, Men).

Mind that while it gives attachment to the dorsal nasal concha on the nasal bone and the maxilla -when it exists-; it gives attachment to the middle concha on the palatine bone
