Incisive bone

Os incisivum

Definition

The incisive bone is an even, asymmetrical bone of the face, located at the rostral end of the head. It carries the upper incisor teeth. The palatine process of the incisive bone forms the ventral part of the nasal opening and the rostral ceiling of the oral cavity. The incisive bone is fused to the opposite bone, the maxilla and in most species to the nasal bone
