Nasal bone

Os nasale

Definition

Andréa Lopes da Costa

The nasal bone is a paired, elongated, and symmetrical bone of the facial skeleton.

It forms the dorsal part of the roof of the nasal cavity. The nasal bones articulate medially with each other and laterally with the maxillary bones, as well as caudally with the frontal bones. Their rostral border contributes, depending on the species, to the delimitation of the bony nasal opening.
