Lesser curvature of stomach
Curvatura ventriculi minor
Definition
The lesser curvature of the stomach in domestic animals is the shorter, concave border of the stomach that extends from the esophagus to the pylorus.
It serves as the attachment site for the lesser omentum and is a common location for surgical interventions such as gastrostomy. The lesser curvature is supplied by the left and right gastric arteries.
Additionally, the lesser curvature is involved in the mechanical response of the stomach to filling and emptying, with changes in the position and angulation of the gastric incisura affecting the distribution of luminal contents.
