Definition

Antoine Micheau

The limbus fossae ovalis (border of the oval fossa), is the raised muscular rim that surrounds the fossa ovalis in the interatrial septum of the heart. It is formed by the thickened edge of the septum secundum and is most prominent dorsally, demarcating the thin, fibrous depression of the fossa ovalis from the adjacent muscular atrial septum.
