Pars magnocellularis
Definition
The magnocellular part of the red nucleus is the caudal large-cell region, which receives afferents from the contralateral interposed nucleus of the cerebellum and the ipsilateral motor cortex, and projects via the rubrospinal and rubronuclear tracts to control movements of the limbs and cranial nerve nuclei.
