Pulmonar hilum
Hilus pulmonis
Definition
The pulmonary hilum is an area located on the medial, mediastinal surface of each lung, through which the lung’s main functional structures enter and exit. It corresponds to the passage point for the main bronchi, pulmonary arteries and veins, as well as nerves and lymphatic vessels. All of these structures together constitute the root of the lung.
