Fissurae interlobares
Definition
Interlobar fissures are anatomical spaces that separate the different pulmonary lobes, lined by the pleura.
In dogs and cats:
Left lung: Divided into cranial and caudal lobes. The caudal interlobar fissure separates these two lobes.
Right lung: Composed of four lobes (cranial, middle, caudal, and accessory).
Cranial interlobar fissure: Between the cranial and middle lobes.
Caudal interlobar fissure: Between the middle and caudal lobes.
Parasagittal fissure: Between the cranial and accessory lobes.
