The accessory lobe is part of the right lung. It occupies a medial and caudal position relative to the heart and is dorsal to the caudal vena cava.

It is ventilated by the right accessory lobar bronchus, which branches from the right principal bronchus. It is separated from the right caudal lobe by the caudal interlobar fissure.
