Rib - 1

Costa - I

Definition

Anne-Sophie Emeric

The first rib is the shortest and widest of all the ribs. It forms the cranial boundary of the thorax. It articulates dorsally with the first thoracic vertebra and ventrally with the manubrium of the sternum. Its inner surface, concave, faces the mediastinum, while its outer surface, convex, is directed toward the thoracic wall.
