Superior conjunctival fornix
Fornix conjunctivae superior
Definition
The superior conjunctival fornix is the superior end of the conjunctival sac, where the conjunctiva transits between its palpebral and bulbar parts. The superior conjunctival fornix is deeper than the inferior fornix, and is where the excretory ducts of the lacrimal gland emerge.
The conjunctival fornixes are the loosest and most folded parts of the conjonctiva, with the highest concentration of conjunctival glands and lymphonoduli aggregati conjunctivales.
