The obturator internus bursa is situated between the tendon of the obturator internus muscle and the cartilage covered posterior grooved surface of the ischium, with a "boomerang" shape in transverse plane. This bursa serves to reduce friction between the obturator internus tendon and the adjacent bony structures during hip movement
