Tendo musculi extensoris radialis longus carpi
- Related terms: Extensor carpi radialis longus - Tendon; Extensor carpi radialis longus (Tendon); Extensor carpi radialis longus-Tendon
Definition
The tendon of extensor carpi radialis longus is visible in the distal forearm, where it passes beneath the brachioradialis tendon, then continues under the tendons of three deeper thumb muscles: the abductor pollicis longus, the extensor pollicis brevis, and the extensor pollicis longus, as it approaches the wrist.
At the wrist, the tendon traverses the first dorsal extensor compartment beneath the extensor retinaculum and inserts onto the dorsal surface of the base of the second metacarpal bone.
