Definition
The allocortex refers to the rhinencephalic cortex, as opposed to the neocortex (isocortex) of the neopallium. It has two main divisions:
The paleocortex (paleopallium), with three layers, mainly located in the rhinencephalon.
The archicortex (archipallium), also with three layers, associated with the hippocampus.
