The amygdaloid body (or amygdala) is a structure of the rhinencephalon located in the piriform lobe, responsible for assigning emotional context to sensory information and constituting a major element of the limbic system.

It contains several nuclei, including the basal nucleus, lateral nucleus, central nucleus, medial nucleus, cortical nucleus, and nucleus of the lateral olfactory tract.
