Alveolar margin

Margo alveolaris

Definition

The thick alveolar border (Margo alveolaris) of the alveolar process of the maxilla corresponds to the dental alveoli (Alveoli dentales) of the premolar and molar teeth. It begins behind the thin toothless interalveolar border (Margo interalveolaris)(1) that goes from the canine tooth to the first premolar tooth. This latter is long in herbivorous, short in Pigs and Dogs and absent in Men.
