The costal part of the diaphragm corresponds to the second peripheral muscle fibers part located laterally to the central tendon.

Origin: Ventral face of the lumbar vertebrae

Insertion: Inner face of ribs and costal cartilage

Action: Inspiration

Description:

Its fibers are radiated and almost parallel. It starts from digitations that insert themselves on the inner side of the ribs and costal cartilage. Depending on the species, the bundles are more or less thick.
