Oesophageal hiatus
Hiatus esophageus [oesophageus]
Definition
The oesophagus hiatus is one of the three opening in the diaphragm.
It allows the path to the oesophagus and its vessels as well as vagal trucks. It is surrounded by the end of the prolongations of the left and right crura sometimes known as “intermediate crura” (not distinct in all species).
