Habenular nuclei

Nuclei habenulares

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The habenular nuclei are nuclei of the epithalamus that receive afferents from the septal nuclei and basal forebrain via the stria medullaris thalami, and project to the interpeduncular nucleus through the retroflex fasciculus. They are involved in limbic functions, particularly in regulating monoaminergic systems.
