- Related terms: Left tracheobronchial [bifurcation] lymph nodes (Bronchial lymph center)
Definition
The left tracheobronchial lymph nodes are lymph nodes located in the mediastinum, at the level of the tracheal bifurcation and the origin of the left principal bronchus. They belong to the thoracic lymphatic center and participate in the lymphatic drainage of the left pulmonary and bronchial structures.
They are located near the left principal bronchus and the vascular structures of the pulmonar hilum.
These lymph nodes receive lymph mainly from the left lung, the corresponding bronchi, and part of the trachea and mediastinum, before draining into the mediastinal lymph nodes and the bronchomediastinal lymphatic trunks.
