The lumbar part of the diaphragm corresponds to its posterior part.

Origin: Ventral face of the lumbar vertebrae

Action: Inspiration

Description:

It starts on the ventral face of the lumbar vertebrae from two tendons, left and right, from which start bundles of muscle fibers separated in two : the right crus and the left crus. The aortic hiatus and the esophageal hiatus are located between these two crura. The right crus is usually larger and longer than the left one.

Variations :

In Equine, the two tendons initiating the lumbar part form one and are blended with the ventral longitudinal ligament.
